Description
Ingrid Capozzi is a glass artist from South Limburg, working from her home studio in Klimmen in the Limburg hills, a short distance from Maastricht. She creates unique pieces, often wall objects, in which fused glass acts as a window to underlying layers; as the viewer approaches, structures, air bubbles, lines, and subtle color shifts become visible.
Capozzi often combines glass with other materials, such as steel in her exterior work and with textiles, paper, paint, and metal in her interior work, creating layered compositions that evoke water, rock, and rugged landscapes. Experimentation with heat, chemical reactions, and transparency forms the core of her practice; each new glass plate offers starting points for the next step in an ongoing research process.
In her work, she strives for balance and harmony, while at the same time leaving room for wonder: an object is successful when it continues to intrigue and allows the viewer to discover new details each time.
As she herself says: “with glass I can discover and wander. HIt is a meandering journey of trying and experimenting, which I undertake in my studio with a sense of contentment and great satisfaction. The most beautiful moments are those of wonder.
