André Kestel (1969, Burgstädt, Saxony, Germany) is a German artist who lives and works in Halle (Saale, Germany), where he has consistently developed his own visual language in glass and metal since the 1990s.

After various studies and professions, he initiated a workshop project in Chemnitz, followed by a visiting professorship in Glass/Painting at the Hochschule für Kunst & Design Burg Giebichenstein in Halle. Kestel is active in various artist associations and professional organizations, underscoring his commitment to the broader artistic discourse.

His work mostly consists of unique objects and installations where glass, metal, and found materials meet in quiet assemblages. These sculptures function as spatial poems: collage-like constructions that refer to everyday realities, only to then strip them of their obviousness.

In a restrained, layered formal language, Kestel explores how ‘phenomena of reality’ can tilt towards abstraction and meaning, often in conjunction with text, poetry, and photography.
