Description
Frederic Van Overschelde (Brussels, 1964) is a glass artist with a background in the neon industry, where he worked on illuminated signs from the age of sixteen. At thirty, he made a conscious choice to pursue glass art and completed the glass program at IKA Mechelen (Belgium), followed by the Glass department at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy in Amsterdam, where he refined his technique and developed into an independent artist.
In his work, Van Overschelde uses hot glass and light to depict human emotions in layered, narrative objects, often in combination with containers or vases that he turns into sculptural carriers of a story.
For GLASRIJK 2026, he is creating an enchanting, fairytale-like glass landscape with blown glass plant elements, an imaginary garden that doesn't disappear and refers to fragility and timeless beauty in a time of climate change.
Frederic is exhibiting his glass art during GLASRIJK in the Eeshofbos, Tubbergen Rand.
