Bert Sterk has worked with glass for a large part of his life, fulfilling various roles at the Glasfabriek in Leerdam before developing into an autonomous glass artist.

At the Academy of Fine Arts in Antwerp, he completed the Glass Art Academy, specializing in kiln casting and sand casting. From this solid technical foundation, his focus shifted in 2024 to blown glass objects, where he further explores organic forms and motifs from nature, such as shells.

During the blowing process, the final object – in color, shape, and size – is created in close collaboration with a team of glassblowers. In that process, he carefully explores the limits of the material, the influence of color combinations, and added materials.

The outcome remains an exciting, somewhat unpredictable journey, in which each work takes on a unique and personal character.
