October 5th Glassy Concert: Missa Sancti Georgii composed by Herman Finkers.

On October 5th at 7:30 PM, the so-called Glasrijk Concert will once again take place in the St. Pancras Basilica in Tubbergen. Traditionally, this will be performed by the St. Pancras Basilica Choir. The choir has begun rehearsing this well-known choral work by Herman Finkers with great enthusiasm. Every Tuesday evening, the rehearsal, led by Jeroen Hulshof, known as the conductor of various choirs and also as a concert pianist, is dedicated to this exceptionally beautiful mass.

Hulshof also managed to get the choir Con Brio from Borne excited about rehearsing this mass, which led to the idea of a collaboration. This consequently means there will be a second performance on October 12th in Borne, in the Stephanuskerk. Both choirs will be supported by a 7-member ensemble.

On the occasion of his wedding consecration on June 15, 1990, Finkers composed this Latin mass. Because this took place in the Georgius (Joris-/Sjors-) church in Almelo, the mass was dedicated to St. Joris, patron saint of Almelo for over seven centuries.

Later, Finkers also wrote a credo for it. Last year, this complete version was released on CD with the participation of Cappella Amsterdam and Holland Baroque, a unique performance that can be heard on Spotify.
